This contest has escalated into a highly intense political battle, marked by vigorous lobbying efforts from party veterans, senior leaders, and younger contenders before the Congress high command. Final Stages of Selection and High-Command Deliberations

Sources within the party have indicated that the All India Congress Committee may directly name one candidate, while leaving the second choice to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. There is also speculation that Revanth Reddy might fly to Delhi on Wednesday to participate in the finalization of the candidates, underscoring the high-stakes nature of this decision.
Key Contenders and Their Claims
The scramble for these seats has drawn in multiple high-profile contenders, each presenting strong cases for their nomination. Senior gastroenterologist and Samvidhan Bachao Committee chairman Dr Vinay Kumar is actively seeking the fulfilment of the party's commitment made at the time of his return to the Congress. Meanwhile, party veteran and TPCC disciplinary action committee vice-chairman Shyam Mohan recently met AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge in Bengaluru, pressing his claim by submitting detailed records of his nearly five-decade-long association with the party.
Frontrunners and Speculations
Mahesh Goud acknowledged that Abhishek Manu Singhvi is considered a frontrunner in this race, but he stressed that "nothing is final until the AICC formally announces the names." Regarding speculation around Justice B Sudershan Reddy, he mentioned that discussions are ongoing, but clarified that the former Supreme Court judge has not formally sought a nomination. Additionally, Mahesh Goud added that the Congress government will soon fill some of the state-run corporation chairpersons and directors' posts, indicating broader political appointments on the horizon.
This Rajya Sabha selection process highlights the intricate dynamics within the Congress party in Telangana, as it balances regional interests, social representation, and high-command directives. The outcome will not only shape the party's parliamentary presence but also influence its internal cohesion and electoral strategies moving forward.
