Police Officers Caught in Jewelry Store Robbery Scandal
In a shocking case that has exposed deep corruption within law enforcement, seven individuals including two police sub-inspectors have been arrested for allegedly robbing a jeweller in Karnataka's Davangere district. The arrests were confirmed by Superintendent of Police Uma Prashanth on November 25, 2025.
The Accused and Seized Evidence
The arrested individuals include Police Sub Inspectors Malappa Chippalakatti and Praveen Kumar, who were supposed to uphold the law rather than break it. They were joined by five civilians: jewellery shop owners Satish Revankar, Nagaraj Revankar, Dundeppa, Nagesh and Dilyappa.
During the investigation, authorities recovered substantial evidence including 78 grams of gold ornaments that were stolen during the robbery. The police also seized two air guns and three cars that were used in the commission of the crime.
Deepening Crisis in Police Integrity
This incident has raised serious questions about police integrity in the region. The involvement of serving police officers in organized criminal activity represents a significant breach of public trust. Local residents have expressed outrage that those tasked with protecting citizens are instead participating in robberies.
The case highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in maintaining internal discipline and rooting out corrupt elements within their ranks. Superintendent Uma Prashanth has assured the public that thorough investigations are underway and all involved will face strict legal action.
This robbery case in Davangere follows a pattern of similar incidents across Karnataka where individuals in positions of authority have been implicated in criminal activities. The judicial process is expected to move swiftly given the seriousness of the charges and the involvement of police personnel.
