Doraha Police Book 4 for Attempted Murder on Sarpanch's Son in Ludhiana
4 Booked for Firing at Sarpanch's Son in Ludhiana Village

In a serious incident highlighting local tensions, the Doraha police have registered an attempt to murder case against four individuals. The complaint was filed by Manpreet Singh Goldy, son of the acting sarpanch of Rajgarh village, after one of the accused allegedly opened fire at his car.

The Sequence of Events Leading to the Attack

The conflict began on the evening of December 24. According to the First Information Report (FIR), Manpreet Singh Goldy, who is in the business of buying and selling dogs, was walking his pet outside his house in Rajgarh village. At this time, two local youths, identified as Manjot Singh and his brother Prabhjot Singh, started abusing and arguing with him.

When Goldy objected, a physical altercation broke out, drawing a crowd to the spot. Goldy subsequently retreated into his house. However, the accused remained outside, issuing threats. Goldy alleged that Manjot was heard making a phone call, instructing someone referred to as "Bui" to come quickly and not spare him.

The Firing Incident and Escape

Later, Goldy left his home in his Maruti Swift car to visit his friend, Sahijdeep Singh, in the same village. At approximately 7:30 PM, as he neared his friend's residence, the accused returned. This time, they were accompanied by Inderjit Singh alias Bui and two other unidentified youths.

As per the police complaint, Inderjit Bui arrived on a blue motorcycle armed with a pistol. Manjot, Prabhjot, and the two unknown accomplices came in a car. The assailants reportedly raised slogans, threatening to kill Goldy. Following this, Inderjit Singh opened fire, with one bullet striking Goldy's vehicle.

Fearing for his life, Goldy jumped out of his car and ran into his friend's house for safety. The accused continued to issue threats but fled the scene with their vehicles and weapons as villagers began to gather.

Political Motive and Police Action

In his statement to the police, Manpreet Singh Goldy suggested a political motive behind the attack. He claimed the assault occurred because his father, Darshan Singh, is currently the acting sarpanch of Rajgarh village, a role the accused allegedly disapproved of. Village sarpanch Jagtar Singh is reportedly abroad, and Darshan Singh, a panch, is acting in his stead.

Acting on Goldy's complaint, the Doraha police registered a case under sections of attempt to murder and the Arms Act. Doraha SHO Inspector Akash Datt confirmed that the accused—Manjot Singh, Prabhjot Singh, Inderjit Singh alias Bui, and one unknown person—are still at large. He stated that police teams are making active efforts to apprehend them.

Providing further context, DSP Karamjit Grewal, who was acting as Payal DSP, offered a slightly different account of the initial dispute. He stated that Manjot and Prabhjot had an argument with Goldy over getting some documents signed. This argument escalated, leading them to call Inderjit Singh, who arrived with an unknown person and fired shots at Goldy.
