In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, police in Chatra district seized approximately 80 kilograms of poppy husk, locally known as doda, from Hardipur village on Monday. The contraband is estimated to be worth around Rs 10 lakh in the illicit market.
Details of the Operation
Acting on a tip-off, the police team led by Simaria Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nagar Goje Shubham Bhau Saheb conducted a raid at Jordag Tola in Hardipur village, which falls under the Lawalong police station limits. The contraband was found concealed in bushes near the residence of one Chandan Yadav.
According to DSP (headquarters) Sunil Kumar Singh, the drugs were reportedly stored for transportation to Punjab. However, the peddlers, along with buyers who had arrived from Punjab, managed to flee the scene before the police arrived.
Ongoing Investigation
The police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and are conducting further investigations to trace the accused. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the individuals involved in the drug smuggling network.
This seizure marks another success for the local police in their ongoing campaign against drug abuse and illegal trafficking in the region.
