AAP Leader Anurag Dhanda Launches Scathing Attack on Haryana's Bhupinder Singh Hooda
In a sharp political critique, Aam Aadmi Party national media in-charge Anurag Dhanda on Monday directly targeted Haryana's Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda, alleging that he is functioning as a "puppet" of the Bharatiya Janata Party within the state's political landscape. The allegations were made during a press interaction in Chandigarh, where Dhanda outlined a series of claims pointing to covert cooperation between the Congress and BJP.
Historical Rajya Sabha Elections Cited as Evidence
Dhanda specifically referenced the 2016 and 2022 Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana to substantiate his accusations. He asserted that despite the Congress party possessing adequate numerical strength on paper, BJP-backed independent candidates managed to secure victories in both instances. "This pattern is not coincidental," Dhanda stated, suggesting a deliberate and recurring strategy of cross-voting and political maneuvering.
Accusations of Financial Favoritism and Tacit Understanding
Further intensifying his allegations, the AAP leader criticized the reported waiver of Rs 16.50 lakh in penal rent for Bhupinder Singh Hooda's government accommodation. Dhanda portrayed this financial relief as a clear indicator of a tacit understanding and mutual back-scratching between the BJP and the Congress in Haryana. He argued that such actions reveal a deeper, unspoken alliance that contradicts their public postures of opposition.
Pattern of Cross-Voting and Internal Opposition Issues
Elaborating on the mechanics of this alleged collaboration, Dhanda pointed to instances of cross-voting by some Congress MLAs that historically benefited BJP-backed candidates. He emphasized that these episodes are symptomatic of significant internal discord and strategic failures within the opposition ranks in Haryana. According to Dhanda, this has allowed the BJP to capitalize on divisions and secure advantages even when facing a numerically stronger opposition.
Critique of Congress's Inaction on Public Issues
Beyond electoral politics, the AAP media in-charge also claimed that the Congress party has been notably inactive in raising and addressing pressing public issues within Haryana in recent times. This perceived silence, Dhanda suggested, further fuels the narrative of a compromised opposition that is more engaged in behind-the-scenes dealings than in substantive public advocacy.
Broader Allegation of Mutual Political Advantage
In his concluding remarks, Anurag Dhanda framed the situation as a classic case of public rivalry masking private cooperation. He alleged that both the BJP and Congress in Haryana publicly project themselves as adversaries but are, in reality, working to provide each other with mutual political advantage, thereby marginalizing genuine alternative voices like the Aam Aadmi Party. The allegations underscore the AAP's strategy to position itself as the only credible alternative to what it describes as a collusive duopoly in the state's politics.
