AAP-Congress Clash in Ludhiana Leaves Three Injured

A political roadshow in Ludhiana's Jagraon area escalated into a violent confrontation between supporters of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress party, leaving an AAP municipal candidate and two others hospitalized. The incident occurred in Ward 13 on the final day of local government campaigning, when rival processions for Congress candidate Anita Rani and AAP candidate Sunaina Malhotra crossed paths.

Details of the Clash

The verbal dispute quickly turned physical, with both sides engaging in stone-throwing. Each faction accused the other of initiating the attack. AAP state lawmaker Sarvjit Kaur Manuke alleged that Congress operatives ambushed Malhotra's peaceful rally, forcing the AAP team to take shelter in a nearby gurdwara. Malhotra, an AAP staffer, and a boy from the Congress faction sustained injuries during the melee. A local resident watching from her home window was also struck by a stray stone and injured.

Police Investigation

Congress constituency in-charge Jagtar Singh Jagga did not respond to requests for comment. Jagraon City police inspector Parminder Singh confirmed that an investigation is underway to establish criminal liability. Authorities have seized CCTV footage from two local security cameras to reconstruct the events and identify the instigators.
