Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will hold a meeting with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday to focus on preparations for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. Sources indicate that the party leadership aims to finalize candidates well ahead of the polls, giving them several months to work in their respective constituencies and build support before the Election Commission announces the election schedule.
Key Meetings and Events
On Thursday, CM Mann will also attend the NITI Aayog meeting in Delhi. Following this, both leaders will travel to Bathinda on Friday for a roadshow. Kejriwal is scheduled to remain in Punjab until Sunday. On June 13, the party leadership will participate in a traders' event in Jalandhar. Another public event is planned in Mohali, where Kejriwal and Mann will hold a roadshow for the newly elected Mayor, Sarbjit Singh.
Post-Local Body Elections Momentum
Buoyed by its recent success in local body elections, AAP is moving quickly to complete the process of appointing mayors in constituencies where it secured victories. The party's strategy of early candidate selection is seen as a way to maintain momentum and strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of the 2027 state elections.
