The Telangana government is set to bridge the development gap for its tribal communities through a unique initiative. Adivasi communities from the Adilabad district will soon embark on an 'education and exposure tour' to Hyderabad, the state capital. The program aims to familiarize them with the city's rich heritage and modern infrastructure, offering a glimpse into progress beyond their region.
Tour Itinerary: From Heritage to High-Rises
The carefully planned itinerary is designed to provide a holistic view of Hyderabad's evolution. Participants will visit iconic heritage monuments, towering skyscrapers, and experience the efficiency of the metro rail network. A significant focus will be on inspiring the youth through visits to major sporting facilities, including a cricket stadium and venues for volleyball and badminton. The state government will bear the entire cost of the visit, ensuring no financial burden on the communities.
Minister's Announcement in Utnoor
Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao announced this initiative on Saturday during his visit to Utnoor mandal. He interacted with Gond tribal families at Kummarikuntala hamlet, briefing them about the proposed tour. Rao highlighted that while Adilabad is often called 'mini Kashmir,' many Adivasi residents remain disconnected from developments elsewhere in the state.
"To inspire the youth, they will be shown professional sporting facilities," the minister stated. "The community should see the development that has taken place." He emphasized that the tour is part of a broader effort to improve living standards in tribal hamlets, promising that all basic amenities would be ensured.
Education as a Tool for Empowerment
Minister Rao described education as the most powerful instrument for social change. He urged adults in the community to learn to sign their names as a basic step to safeguard against exploitation. Framing self-reliance through education as a tribute to legendary freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Ramji Gond, he outlined the government's support for students.
The support package includes:
- Free slates, books, uniforms, and study material.
- Focused assistance for food, shelter, education, and healthcare.
During the interaction, blankets were also distributed to elderly members of the community, addressing immediate needs while planning for long-term empowerment through exposure and education.
