Telangana Deputy CM Emphasizes AI and Tax Monitoring for Revenue Surge
In Hyderabad, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized on Friday that the integration of modern technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, along with enhanced monitoring of tax revenues and a more structured administrative framework, is fueling a consistent increase in state revenues. During a cabinet sub-committee meeting focused on resource mobilization, he highlighted how AI-driven interventions have significantly improved collection efficiencies in critical sectors such as mining and transport.
Crackdown on Illegal Activities and Tax Enforcement
Vikramarka issued directives to officials to intensify efforts against illegal activities, including unauthorized sand mining, crusher operations, illegal transport, and overloading violations. He stressed that continuous assessments and stricter enforcement of tax regulations have yielded tangible results, with the commercial taxes department reporting a notable 15% rise in GST collections over the past three months. Additionally, the registration department has also recorded positive growth, underscoring the effectiveness of these measures.
Aligning Revenue with Long-Term Economic Goals
Linking revenue mobilization to broader economic objectives, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed all departments to develop clear and actionable plans that align with the ambitious target of building a $3 trillion economy by 2047. This strategic approach aims to ensure that revenue generation efforts contribute directly to the state's long-term economic vision and sustainable development.
Global Promotion and Land Value Revisions
During the meeting, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy proposed a global promotion strategy for land sales under the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to unlock higher revenue potential through expanded outreach. In response, Bhatti Vikramarka directed registration officials to first present land value revision reports to the sub-committee for review before submitting them to the cabinet, ensuring a thorough and coordinated approach to land management and revenue optimization.
The discussions underscored the state's commitment to leveraging technology and robust governance to enhance fiscal performance and drive economic growth, setting a precedent for other regions to follow in resource mobilization and administrative efficiency.
