Political Pressure Mounts on DMK Government Over Transport Strike
The principal opposition party in Tamil Nadu, AIADMK, along with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has issued a strong demand to the ruling DMK government, urging immediate intervention to end the ongoing strike by omni bus operators. The political standoff has escalated as thousands of passengers face severe difficulties in inter-state travel.
Passengers Bear the Brunt of Travel Disruptions
Edappadi K Palaniswami, the Leader of Opposition and AIADMK chief, publicly highlighted the plight of the common people. He stated that the cessation of omni bus services has created significant hassles for Tamil Nadu residents who rely on these buses for travel to neighboring states. The strike, which began recently, has left a major void in the state's transport ecosystem, affecting daily commuters, students, and families alike.
The situation has brought inter-state road connectivity to a near standstill on several key routes. With omni buses being a popular and affordable mode of transport, their absence is felt acutely, forcing passengers to seek expensive alternatives or cancel their plans entirely.
A Call for Government Action
The criticism from both the AIADMK and the BJP underscores a failure in governance, as per the opposition. They have collectively called upon the DMK government to take decisive steps to resolve the dispute with the bus operators and restore normalcy. The core of their argument is that the state administration has a fundamental responsibility to ensure smooth transportation for its citizens.
The issue was brought to the forefront on 13 November 2025, with political leaders using the platform to hold the government accountable for the public inconvenience. The demand for action is growing louder, putting the state government under increasing pressure to broker a solution and end the omni bus strike without further delay.
