AIADMK whip Krishnamoorthy met Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi on Thursday and submitted a petition seeking action against alleged horse-trading by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). In the petition, the AIADMK claimed that huge sums of money were transacted to lure party MLAs and demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) enquiry, according to a party release.
Allegations of Bribery
The AIADMK alleged that TVK, a political party led by actor Vijay, has been attempting to destabilize the opposition party by bribing its legislators. The petition stated that the horse-trading activities pose a serious threat to the democratic process and the integrity of the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
Demand for CBI Probe
The party urged the Governor to recommend a CBI investigation into the matter, citing the need for an impartial and thorough inquiry. The AIADMK whip emphasized that the allegations are backed by evidence and that the Governor should take immediate action to prevent further erosion of political ethics.
The meeting comes amid heightened political tensions in Tamil Nadu, with the AIADMK accusing the ruling party of using money power to engineer defections. The Governor has assured that the petition will be examined, sources said.
