Jaipur: Ajaey Kumar, the newly appointed organisation general secretary of the Rajasthan BJP, assumed charge on Saturday. Party leaders identified the upcoming panchayat and urban local body elections later this year as his first major organisational test.
Arrival and Temple Visit
After arriving in Jaipur, Kumar visited the Moti Dungri Ganesh Temple before proceeding to the BJP state headquarters to take charge. He then held a meeting with state office-bearers to review ongoing organisational work and set priorities.
Meeting Focus Areas
The party did not disclose detailed outcomes of the meeting, but sources indicated that discussions centred on expanding the organisation, strengthening booth-level structures, and preparing for the upcoming elections. A BJP leader familiar with the talks said, “The focus was on further strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level and ensuring booth committees remain active and effective.”
Political Significance
Within the party, the local body and panchayat polls are viewed as a key political test ahead of the 2028 Assembly elections. Party insiders noted that Kumar’s appointment comes as the BJP seeks to improve coordination between the Bhajan Lal Sharma government and the party organisation, as the government nears the midpoint of its term. A senior BJP functionary remarked, “A key priority is to ensure better synergy between the government and the organisation so that welfare schemes and policy initiatives reach people effectively.”
Expected Priorities
Sources said Kumar is expected to focus on booth management, cadre mobilisation, and membership expansion—areas he has handled in organisational roles outside Rajasthan. Another party leader emphasised, “The message is clear—strengthen the booth, strengthen the organisation. The leadership wants a more active grassroots network before the local elections.”
This appointment underscores the BJP’s strategy to build a robust grassroots presence ahead of critical electoral battles in the state.
