Akhilesh slams BJP over lathicharge on Ramcharitmanas holder

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government over the alleged lathicharge on an advocate who was carrying a copy of the Ramcharitmanas. In a strongly worded post on social media platform X, Yadav stated that the incident reflects the government's "anti-Sanatan thinking."

Condemnation of Police Action

Akhilesh Yadav described the manner in which police assaulted the advocate holding the revered Hindu scripture as "highly condemnable." He asserted that the act amounted to an insult to the religious and cultural values associated with the Ramcharitmanas. The SP chief emphasized that such behavior by the authorities is unacceptable and demands accountability from the ruling party.

SP Functionaries Visit Injured Advocate

Following Akhilesh Yadav's directive, several SP functionaries visited the injured advocate in the hospital. They inquired about his well-being and presented him with a new copy of the Ramcharitmanas as a gesture of solidarity. Yadav praised the party workers for standing with the advocate and supporting what he termed as "respect for religion and humanity."

Allegations of Religious Hypocrisy

In his post, Akhilesh Yadav appealed to "true followers of religion" and seers associated with the BJP to expose what he called the party's "religious hypocrisy." He alleged that the BJP uses religion as a political tool to create social divisions and spread communal tension for electoral gains. The SP chief urged religious leaders to distance themselves from such practices.

Political Slogan and Call to Action

Ending his post with a political slogan, Akhilesh Yadav wrote: "Remove BJP, save religion and save the nation." He further asserted that "today's religion does not want BJP." The statement underscores the SP's strategy to position itself as a defender of religious sentiments while accusing the BJP of exploiting faith for political purposes.
