Akhilesh Yadav Launches Scathing Attack on BJP Over Cooking Gas Crisis
Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav delivered a sharp critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party government on Friday, addressing the pressing issue of cooking gas shortages across Uttar Pradesh. In a strongly worded statement released from Lucknow, the former chief minister challenged the ruling party's claims about gas availability and questioned their commitment to public service.
Direct Challenge to BJP Leadership
Akhilesh Yadav posed a direct question to BJP leadership: "If the BJP insists there is no shortage of LPG cylinders, then why aren't the leaders and workers of this self-proclaimed world's largest political organization stepping forward to assist citizens? They should personally ensure people receive their gas cylinders from distribution agencies."
The SP chief went further, suggesting that public frustration might reach a point where "people start surrounding the houses, offices, establishments and vehicles of BJP leaders to draw attention to this critical issue." He accused the BJP of consistently entering "denial mode" whenever shortages emerge, rather than implementing practical solutions.
Historical Pattern of Crisis Management Failure
Drawing parallels with previous emergencies, Yadav referenced the coronavirus pandemic period when similar claims were made despite widespread oxygen shortage complaints. "The BJP has established a pattern of allowing profiteering during crises while avoiding responsibility for public hardships," he alleged.
The opposition leader emphasized that ordinary citizens should not bear the consequences of governmental errors. He called for concrete, actionable measures to resolve the LPG distribution problems affecting households across the state.
Practical Suggestions for Public Service
Yadav proposed that those claiming to serve the public should establish free community kitchens as immediate relief measures. "If political representatives cannot actually help hungry citizens, they should at minimum refrain from making empty promises and hollow claims," he stated pointedly.
SP Leaders Attend Iftar Gathering
Separately, Samajwadi Party leadership participated in an iftar event organized by Maulana Iqbal Qadri, national president of the Samajwadi Party Minority Sabha, in Lucknow on Friday evening. Akhilesh Yadav attended alongside party national secretary Rajendra Chaudhary.
The gathering also included MLA Ravidas Mehrotra and numerous prominent Lucknow citizens. Following the traditional breaking of the fast, special prayers were offered for national peace, harmony, and prosperity.
The dual events highlighted the SP's continued political engagement—both in critiquing governance failures and participating in community-building activities—as Uttar Pradesh navigates both practical challenges and social traditions.
