Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday posted a message on social media stating that fraudulent triumphs do not last forever, in an apparent reference to the BJP's victory in the West Bengal assembly elections.

In a post on X, Akhilesh wrote: 'Har farebi fatah ki ek miyad hoti hai, ye baat hi sachchai ki buniyad hoti hai' (Every fraudulent triumph has a limited life span and there is no truth more basic than this). The post came after the BJP secured a decisive win in West Bengal, one of the five states that went to polls.
SP's Informal Response
While the Samajwadi Party did not issue any formal statement on the assembly election results of the five states, party leaders informally described the BJP's win in West Bengal as a result of the template that the saffron party had formulated during the assembly and Lok Sabha byelections in Uttar Pradesh since 2022. According to a senior SP functionary, two major and unusual features of the Bengal elections made it different from the polls in the other four states.
- Revision of voter lists: The process ended up in bulk deletion of names from the electoral rolls.
- Parallel security structure: Setting up of a parallel structure of central paramilitary forces besides the state police force.
These features, the SP leader claimed, distinguished the West Bengal elections from those held in the remaining four states. The party's criticism comes amid ongoing debates about the fairness of the electoral process in the state.
