Akhilesh Yadav Confident of SP's 2027 Victory, Slams BJP as 'Gang of Blind Followers'

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), labeling it not as a political party but as a "gang of blind followers." Speaking at the "Digital Democracy Dialogue" program at the Samajwadi Party's state headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav expressed unwavering confidence that despite the BJP's concerted efforts to malign the SP, the people of Uttar Pradesh would bring the Samajwadi Party back to power in the crucial 2027 Assembly elections.

Allegations of Government Machinery Misuse

Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the BJP is attempting to create significant challenges for the Samajwadi Party through the alleged misuse of government and administrative machinery. He claimed that democracy in the current environment is under "serious threat," emphasizing that democracy thrives on communication and social harmony. "There is a need for dialogue in sustaining democratic values. But citizens are facing growing challenges in their daily lives," he stated, highlighting what he described as public frustration and disappointment with BJP-led governments.

The PDA Approach and Ideological Foundation

The SP president underlined that a positive political direction could only be achieved through the "PDA" approach—focusing on Pichhda (backward classes), Dalit, and Alpsankhyak (minorities). He asserted that any political campaign without a clear ideological foundation risks becoming directionless and misleading. Highlighting the SP's ideological underpinnings, Yadav said socialism is fundamentally rooted in social justice and inclusivity. "Commitment is built through positivity, and ideological movements have historically shaped the direction of society and the nation," he remarked, calling on party members to remain disciplined and maintain simplicity in both language and conduct.

Digital Platforms: A Tool for Equality vs. Misinformation

Reflecting on his own government's initiatives, Akhilesh Yadav pointed to the distribution of laptops as a program aimed at promoting social equality and opening new avenues of development and progress for the youth. In stark contrast, he alleged that the BJP is using digital platforms primarily for its own interests and actively spreading misinformation. He cautioned SP workers to remain vigilant against what he termed the BJP's "disinformation campaigns" and reiterated that the Samajwadi Party is fully prepared to face all political challenges head-on.

The former CM's address comes at a time of heightened political activity in Uttar Pradesh, setting the stage for the upcoming electoral battles. His strong critique of the BJP and reaffirmation of the SP's commitment to social justice and dialogue-based democracy underscore the party's strategy to rally its base and counter the ruling party's influence ahead of the 2027 polls.
