Akhilesh Yadav Launches Scathing Attack on UP Government Over Corruption and Lawlessness
In a blistering critique of the ruling establishment, Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday leveled serious allegations of large-scale corruption, illegal land occupation, and a complete breakdown of law and order across the state.
Criminals Operating Fearlessly in Broad Daylight
Addressing party supporters from various districts at the SP headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav claimed that criminals were operating without fear and committing murders in broad daylight, pointing to what he described as a systemic failure of governance. The SP chief asserted that corruption had reached unprecedented levels across all departments, with "dishonesty and loot" becoming rampant at every administrative level.
"The government is acting like a land mafia," Yadav alleged, claiming that illegal encroachments were occurring on a massive scale throughout Uttar Pradesh. He specifically targeted the BJP's nine-year tenure in the state, declaring that UP has been "ruined" under their administration.
Multiple Governance Failures Highlighted
Yadav outlined several areas where he believes the current government has failed the people of Uttar Pradesh:
- Agricultural distress: Farmers are not receiving fair prices for their crops while middlemen dominate agricultural markets
- Illegal activities: Unlawful mining, trade, and other criminal enterprises have increased significantly
- Economic challenges: Rising inflation and unemployment affecting even educated youth who struggle to find employment
- Infrastructure corruption: Widespread corruption in road construction and Public Works Department projects leading to poor-quality infrastructure
- Environmental degradation: River pollution has worsened considerably under the current administration
Call for Political Change Ahead of 2027 Elections
The former chief minister declared that people were "fed up" with the current government and called for substantial political change. He urged party workers to reach out to every household across the state to mobilize support for the crucial 2027 assembly elections.
Yadav promised that a Samajwadi Party government would ensure:
- Justice and social equity for all citizens
- Better employment opportunities for youth
- Fair crop prices and support for farmers
- Transparent governance free from corruption
Eid Greetings and Message of Harmony
Separately, the SP chief extended warm greetings to people on the occasion of Eid, wishing them happiness, peace, and prosperity. In his message, he emphasized that the festival symbolizes togetherness, joy, and harmony among communities.
"Such occasions provide an opportunity to reinforce mutual respect, compassion, and a sense of brotherhood among people from all walks of life," Yadav stated. He called upon citizens to uphold the values of inclusiveness and collective well-being, highlighting the importance of social cohesion in challenging times.
The dual messaging—combining sharp political criticism with a unifying social message—reflects the SP's strategy as opposition parties begin positioning themselves for the next state elections, with corruption and governance expected to be central campaign issues.
