Tragic Drowning Incident Claims Lives of Two Brothers in Alwar
A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Alwar district on Sunday when two young brothers lost their lives after drowning in a water tank in Shekhpur village. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and prompted immediate responses from authorities.
Details of the Deceased and the Incident
The victims have been identified as Manish Balai (15) and Sandeep Balai (12), sons of Puran Balai and residents of Rasulpur village in Alwar district. According to police reports, the brothers left their home around 10 am to visit their grandmother, who was staying at agricultural fields in the area.
At approximately 2:30 pm, the children went to eat ber (Indian jujube) from a tree located near a water body about 500 meters away from their grandmother's temporary residence. Women laborers who were harvesting wheat in the nearby fields reportedly chased them away from the area. Following this, the children ran from the spot and later entered the johad (traditional water harvesting tank) to bathe.
Discovery of the Tragedy
When the brothers failed to return home, concerned family members initiated a search but were unable to locate them. The grim discovery was made on Monday when laborers arriving at the fields noticed clothes lying near the water tank. They immediately alerted villagers, who gathered at the site and discovered the bodies submerged in the johad.
Villagers promptly informed the police about the tragic find. Lakshmangadh DSP Kailash Jindal reached the spot with a police team, and the bodies were subsequently pulled out from the water tank for further investigation.
Official Response and Condolences
Upon receiving information about the incident, In-charge Minister Kirodi Lal Meena visited Rasulpur village to meet with the grieving family. Minister Meena offered condolences to the bereaved parents and assured them of full assistance from the government during this difficult time.
Rajgarh-Lakshmangadh MLA Mangelal Meena also visited the family to express his sympathies and support. The local administration has initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the drowning to determine if any safety lapses contributed to this preventable tragedy.
This incident highlights the ongoing concerns about water safety in rural areas, particularly during the summer months when children often seek relief from the heat in local water bodies. Community leaders have called for increased awareness about water safety measures and better supervision of children near potentially dangerous water sources.
