Amaravati's Road Network Pushed onto Fast Track to Shape Capital's First Impression
The development of Amaravati's road network is being accelerated with unprecedented urgency, moving beyond routine infrastructure projects to fundamentally shape the capital's first impression for visitors and residents alike. At the heart of this strategic push is the critical E.3-N.4 junction near Venkatapalem village, which is emerging as a primary gateway to the capital region of Andhra Pradesh.
Accelerated Development at Key Junction
The state government has fast-tracked development works at this vital entry point, with the Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) imposing strict deadlines to ensure rapid completion. During a recent review, ADC chairperson Lakshmi Parthasaradhi Bhaskar directed officials to complete the junction development on a war footing, emphasizing its critical role in public access.
"The E.3-N.4 junction is a critical access point to the capital. With increasing public movement towards Amaravati, the works must be completed immediately and made fully functional," she stated, underscoring the junction's importance for both administrative and public traffic. This junction connects the Seed Access Road (E.3) with the N.4 road linking Navuluru and Venkatapalem, making it essential for seamless vehicular movement.
Infrastructure and Safety Measures
Officials have been instructed to commence bitumen (BT) works within a week and prepare the stretch for smooth traffic flow. In a broader infrastructure initiative, Bhaskar also reviewed desilting works of Kondaveeti Vagu and Palavagu, which intersect the Vijayawada West Bypass. She stressed the need for coordination with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to expedite clearance works near Venkatapalem and Yerrabalem villages, aiming to prevent waterlogging and ensure uninterrupted road connectivity.
At another key site on NH-16 near the DGP office, she inspected the E.13 extension works and flagged safety concerns. Officials were directed to level dug-up service road portions and lay proper berms to eliminate accident risks and ensure seamless traffic flow, highlighting a comprehensive approach to infrastructure safety.
Progress and Future Plans
The ADC chief further visited ongoing development works near HOD Towers, where channel improvement of Palavagu and Peram Vagu is underway. With construction activity intensifying in the capital region, she reviewed plans to divert water flows towards the E.5 road corridor to avoid flooding at work sites, demonstrating proactive measures against environmental challenges.
Meanwhile, works at the E.3-N.4 junction are already progressing rapidly. BT works were completed for a 300-metre stretch in a single day on Monday, and construction has begun on extending connectivity from N.4 towards E.4, further strengthening the internal road grid. Officials noted that this accelerated execution aligns with the vision of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to rapidly build core infrastructure in Amaravati and improve access to the capital region.
Inspection and Oversight
ADC executive engineers K Basaveswara Rao and V Padmakar Prasad, along with other engineering staff, participated in the inspection, ensuring thorough oversight of the development projects. This collaborative effort underscores the government's commitment to transforming Amaravati into a well-connected and efficient capital, setting a high standard for urban infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh.
