Chennai: AMMK's lone MLA S Kamaraj on Tuesday extended support to the TVK government in the assembly, marking a turnaround days after alleging that his signature on a purported support letter to TVK was forged. Hours after his speech, AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran sacked him from the party and accused TVK president Vijay of engaging in 'horse trading.'
Kamaraj's decision to support TVK
Kamaraj stated that he had decided to back the TVK government because the youth of Tamil Nadu had placed their trust in Vijay. "The youth of the state trust Vijay and so do I. Hence I have decided to support the TVK government," Kamaraj said in the assembly.
Background of the controversy
On May 8, Dhinakaran accused TVK of using a "forged" support letter in Kamaraj's name and lodged a police complaint. At that time, Kamaraj publicly denied supporting TVK and claimed that the letter attributed to him was fabricated.
Dhinakaran's reaction
After Kamaraj's speech, Dhinakaran criticized Vijay, saying he had promised to bring change but had only brought 'stench.' The AMMK leader also announced the expulsion of Kamaraj from the party with immediate effect.
This political development has added a new twist to the ongoing power dynamics in Tamil Nadu, with the AMMK now left without any representation in the state assembly.
