The move follows persistent representations from ruling party legislators to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who urged the clearance of pending widow pension applications. Responding to these appeals, the government has decided to sanction pensions to all eligible widows in a comprehensive, single-phase implementation.

According to estimates compiled by the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty, approximately 1.53 lakh eligible beneficiaries have been identified under the widow pension category statewide. Each beneficiary will receive Rs 4,000 per month, creating an additional financial burden of about Rs 61 crore monthly on the state exchequer.
Parallel Initiatives for Differently Abled Persons
In a parallel development, the government is also expected to clear pensions for newly identified differently abled individuals. Nearly one lakh people who obtained disability certificates over the past two years have been awaiting inclusion in the pension scheme. Their applications are now anticipated to be processed alongside the widow pensions, further expanding social protection coverage.

Officials have confirmed that the identification and verification process has been largely completed through village and ward secretariats, establishing a solid foundation for the June rollout.
