Andhra Pradesh Government Prioritizes Road Reconstruction for Amaravati Connectivity
In a significant move to enhance transportation links to the capital region, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to undertake the reconstruction of the Guntur–Tadikonda–Thullur road on an urgent, war-footing basis. This decision follows numerous complaints from residents and commuters who have faced severe difficulties in reaching Amaravati due to the poor condition of this critical road stretch.
Ministerial Inspection and Public Feedback
Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana recently conducted a detailed inspection of the damaged road section between Thullur and Tadikonda. Accompanied by officials from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department, the minister assessed the extent of deterioration and discussed comprehensive plans for its reconstruction as part of broader infrastructure development initiatives in the Amaravati capital region.
During the inspection, several motorists and daily commuters highlighted the serious inconveniences caused by the road's state. They reported that deep potholes and uneven surfaces made travel hazardous and time-consuming, particularly for those journeying from Guntur to various capital villages. The public urged the government to take immediate action to rebuild the stretch to ensure safer and smoother commutes.
Causes of Road Damage and Government Response
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Narayana explained that the road from Tadikonda to Rayapudi has deteriorated significantly due to the continuous movement of heavy vehicles. He noted that extensive construction activities are currently underway in Amaravati, with trucks and heavy machinery frequently transporting materials, which has severely impacted several roads in the area.
Narayana emphasized that the government has already initiated large-scale road development works across the capital region to strengthen connectivity from nearby cities such as Vijayawada and Guntur. The aim is to facilitate easier travel for people heading to Amaravati without facing undue hardships.
Progress and Future Plans
The minister assured that the R&B Department has completed the tender process for the reconstruction of the Guntur–Tadikonda–Thullur road, and preparations are actively underway to commence work shortly. He committed to rebuilding the road with enhanced quality standards to withstand future heavy traffic demands.
Narayana further stated that road development remains a key priority for the government as Amaravati experiences rapid infrastructure expansion. Several internal roads and connectivity corridors are being upgraded to support administrative buildings, residential zones, and ongoing capital city projects.
Expressing confidence in the timeline, the minister projected that the reconstruction of the Tadikonda–Thullur road would be completed within six months. This improvement is expected to significantly ease travel for commuters from Guntur and surrounding areas, boosting accessibility to the capital region and supporting regional economic growth.
