Arunachal Pradesh Bureaucratic Reshuffle Amid Land Scandal

The Arunachal Pradesh government has implemented a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, affecting several key positions across multiple departments. The changes come amid allegations of irregularities in a major infrastructure project and aim to streamline administrative functions.

Key Appointments and Additional Charges

According to an official notification issued by Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta, Education Commissioner Amjad Tak has been assigned additional responsibilities. Tak will now handle the crucial portfolio of Public Health Engineering and Water Supply alongside his existing education duties.

This strategic move aims to leverage Tak's administrative experience in managing essential public services that directly impact citizen welfare across the frontier state.

Transfers and Controversial Reassignment

In one of the most notable changes, Yashaswini B, who previously served as Land Management Special Secretary and Tourism Director, has been transferred and appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of East Kameng district.

She replaces Himanshu Nigam, who has been directed to report immediately to the Personnel Department. The order specifically instructed Nigam to hand over charge of East Kameng Deputy Commissioner to the Additional Deputy Commissioner without delay.

This transfer comes against the backdrop of serious allegations against Nigam regarding irregularities in the land compensation process for the strategically important Lada-Sarli section of the Arunachal Frontier Highway project.

Filling Vacant Positions

The reshuffle also addressed several vacant positions within the state administration. Tayek Pado, formerly Joint Secretary of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, has been transferred and posted as Director of Food and Civil Supplies.

This position had been lying vacant, and Pado's appointment is expected to bring fresh leadership to the department responsible for essential commodity distribution across the state.

The bureaucratic changes reflect the state government's ongoing efforts to optimize administrative efficiency and address critical issues affecting development projects and public service delivery in Arunachal Pradesh.
