Opposition Leader R Ashoka Slams Karnataka Congress Government's 1,000-Day Record

In a scathing critique delivered in Mandya on Saturday, Leader of Opposition R Ashoka launched a sharp attack on the Congress government in Karnataka as it approaches the 1,000-day milestone in office. Ashoka asserted that while the government has progressed in terms of time served, it has significantly regressed in terms of development and governance.

"1,000 Days of 1,000 Problems"

Speaking to reporters, Ashoka characterized the government's tenure as "1,000 days of 1,000 problems," a period he claims has been marred by alleged scandals and intense internal power struggles within the ruling party. He emphasized that the administration has failed to deliver on its promises, leading to widespread public dissatisfaction.

Severe Healthcare Crisis Alleged

Ashoka highlighted what he described as a severe healthcare crisis unfolding across the state. He alleged that government hospitals are facing critical shortages of essential medicines due to the state's failure to procure supplies or permit local purchases. "This negligence is putting countless lives at risk," he warned.

Furthermore, Ashoka revealed that doctors are planning protests scheduled for March 12, accusing the health department of gross negligence and mismanagement. He claimed that the situation has deteriorated to a point where medical professionals feel compelled to take to the streets to demand basic resources.

Allegations of Financial Mismanagement and Corruption

The opposition leader also leveled serious allegations of financial impropriety. He accused the government of diverting state funds to support election campaigns in other states, thereby neglecting Karnataka's own developmental needs.

In a shocking claim, Ashoka alleged that a Rs 1-crore bribe was demanded for issuing a CL7 liquor licence in Mandya, pointing to systemic corruption within the administration.

Karnataka Heading Towards Financial Distress

On the state's financial health, Ashoka issued a stark warning, stating that Karnataka is rapidly heading towards financial distress. He blamed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for overseeing what he termed "unprecedented borrowing" that has burdened the state with unsustainable debt.

"The fiscal policies of this government are reckless and short-sighted, jeopardizing the future of our state," Ashoka declared, urging immediate corrective measures to avert a full-blown economic crisis.

Ashoka's remarks underscore the escalating political tensions in Karnataka as the Congress government nears a significant milestone, with the opposition intensifying its scrutiny of the administration's performance across key sectors.
