Assam BJP Embarks on 12-Day 'Jana Ashirvad Yatra' from Gupteswar Temple
In a strategic move to bolster grassroots engagement, the Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a 12-day 'Jana Ashirvad Yatra' (People's Blessings Journey). The yatra commenced on February 28 from the historic Gupteswar Temple, situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra River in Sonitpur district. This initiative follows the earlier 'Booth Vijay' campaign, which focused on strengthening direct voter contact, and aims to deepen the party's connection with the electorate across the state.
Phased Schedule with Breaks for Festivities and PM Visit
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma outlined the detailed itinerary during a media briefing on Thursday. The yatra is structured in three distinct phases to accommodate cultural and political events. The first phase runs from February 28 to March 2, covering initial constituencies. A pause is scheduled for March 3-4 to observe Holi festivities, allowing participants to celebrate the festival with their communities.
The journey resumes on March 5 and continues through March 10 for the second phase. Another break is planned from March 11 to March 14, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's anticipated visit to Assam, which requires logistical adjustments. The final phase kicks off on March 15, concluding the extensive outreach effort.
Objectives: Seeking Blessings and Showcasing Achievements
During the yatra, BJP workers will traverse all 126 assembly constituencies, engaging with diverse segments of society to seek their blessings. Chief Minister Sarma emphasized that this is not merely a political rally but a sincere effort to connect with the people. Party representatives will also inform citizens about the developmental work accomplished by the BJP-led government over the past five years, highlighting key initiatives and progress in areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, and education.

Spiritual Inauguration at Gupteswar Temple
BJP's chief spokesperson, Kishore Kumar Upadhyay, explained the symbolic significance of starting the yatra from Gupteswar Temple. He noted that the party often initiates major campaigns with blessings from revered sites, citing previous examples like the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati. By beginning at this Lord Shiva temple, the BJP seeks divine sanction and cultural resonance, reflecting its emphasis on blending spiritual traditions with political activism.
