Guwahati: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya has summoned the budget session of the state assembly from July 6, an official notification stated on Friday. The session is scheduled to span over 21 days.

Previous Session Overview

Earlier, on May 21, the first session of the newly constituted assembly was held for four days. During this brief session, the new speaker was elected, newly-elected MLAs took oath, and the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) was passed.

Full Budget Presentation

In the upcoming session, the state government will present a full budget. This budget is expected to outline the rollout of various government schemes aimed at development and welfare.

Vote-on-Account Background

Prior to the state assembly elections, the previous assembly had only approved a vote-on-account. This temporary parliamentary measure allowed the government to withdraw funds from the Consolidated Fund of India to cover essential expenses such as salaries, pensions, and interest payments for a period of six months.
