Ayodhya's New Lakshman Dwar: A Rs 40 Crore Gateway to Welcome Tourists
In a significant development for religious tourism in Uttar Pradesh, visitors and tourists entering the sacred city of Ayodhya via Gonda will soon be welcomed through another grand gate dedicated to Lakshman. This majestic structure is being constructed over the 40-metre-wide national highway that connects the old Saryu bridge to the Katra–Nawabganj route in the neighbouring district of Gonda.
Construction Details and Progress
The Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam has been designated as the nodal agency to set up this impressive gateway at a cost of nearly Rs 40 crore. The gateway will be adorned with pink sandstone, giving it a royal and attractive appearance that reflects the cultural heritage of the region.
According to senior officials involved in the project, 35 percent of the work has been completed so far. The foundation for erecting the pillars and arch is now ready, marking a crucial milestone in the construction process. Continuous efforts are being made to expedite the remaining work, with the entire Lakshman Dwar expected to be ready by October this year.

This development is part of a comprehensive action plan laid out under the supervision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for civil works underway in key religious cities including Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Mathura.
