Congress Leader Bajwa Condemns Punjab Government Over Brazen Daylight Robbery Incident

Leader of the opposition in the Punjab assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, has strongly condemned a recent robbery incident, stating that it exposes the alarming collapse of law and order under the Aam Aadmi Party government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Bajwa asserted that such a brazen crime reflects the grim ground reality in Punjab today, where criminals appear fearless while ordinary citizens live in constant fear for their safety and security.

Incident Details and Community Impact

The Congress leader revealed that the robbery occurred in broad daylight between 8 am and 9 am, showcasing the audacity of criminals operating in the state. He emphasized that the most disturbing aspect was that the dacoity reportedly took place barely 200 metres from the residence of the senior superintendent of police. Bajwa added that the incident deeply shook the local community and raised serious questions about the ability of the state government to maintain basic law and order.

"If such a daring robbery can occur so close to the SSP's residence, and that too in broad daylight, it raises a very serious question: how safe are ordinary citizens in the rest of the state?" Bajwa questioned, highlighting the pervasive insecurity.

Criticism of Government's Approach

Bajwa criticized the AAP government's handling of law and order, stating that "the people of Punjab are witnessing a complete breakdown of policing." He argued that law and order cannot be managed through advertisements, publicity campaigns, and hollow claims. "The government must understand that the safety of citizens is its foremost responsibility," he insisted.

He further pointed out that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who also holds the home portfolio, cannot escape responsibility for the worsening law and order situation. "The CM appears to be in deep slumber like Kumbhkaran while Punjabis have lost their sleep due to rising crime," Bajwa remarked, using a mythological reference to underscore his criticism.

Demands for Action and Accountability

In response to the incident, Bajwa demanded a thorough investigation and the immediate arrest of the culprits. He urged the state government to stop indulging in propaganda and instead focus on restoring public confidence by strengthening policing and ensuring the safety of the people of Punjab. The Congress leader's statements underscore growing concerns about crime and governance in the state, calling for urgent measures to address the security challenges faced by residents.
