West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on Monday that the state government is planning to introduce a new industrial policy, which will include a seamless land acquisition process, a single-window clearance mechanism, and incentives for investors. The policy is expected to be unveiled in the state budget on June 22.
Speaking at the launch of the state-wide Jan Kalyan Shivirs in Nandigram, Adhikari said the proposed policy would be a key part of the government's efforts to spur industrialisation and create employment opportunities. The budget will contain several "pro-people" decisions aimed at boosting employment, accelerating industrialisation, and strengthening social welfare delivery.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that the Centre has allocated over Rs 8,500 crore to the state under the VB-G RAM G scheme. Bengal's allocation of Rs 8,508 crore for 2026-27 is second only to Uttar Pradesh's Rs 9,721 crore. Under the Gram Sadak Yojana, allocations worth Rs 2,400 crore have been approved, and Rs 1,000 crore has been released by the Centre.
"The allocation of funds will ensure 125 days of employment for rural families," the CM said. "About 79 lakh women have received money from the Annapurna Yojana. People can register their names in the PM Awas Yojana by July 20. If there are irregularities in the survey, they can register complaints on the government's toll-free number. In the coming days, we will beautify and repair roads. We will provide clean drinking water to every household. We are working to improve the healthcare system. There will also be a special surprise in the state budget on June 22."
On healthcare, Adhikari said 1.43 crore families would be brought under the Ayushman Bharat scheme from July. The CM also stated that the state government would ensure that the benefits of its social welfare schemes reach only genuine beneficiaries, alleging massive financial irregularities in the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme.
Adhikari said, "Jan Kalyan Shivir camps are being held at 1,100 places across the state. People can avail themselves of the benefits of 54 important government schemes from these camps. In the past, financial assistance did not reach the eligible recipients. Deceased individuals, non-Indians, and even men received Lakshmir Bhandar funds. The widows' allowance was given to men, too. There were 3,500 fake accounts in just one block of Domkal in Murshidabad."
