Deadly Fire in Bengaluru Kills Five Cows, Destroys Vehicles in Late-Night Blaze
A late-night fire in north Bengaluru turned deadly, resulting in the tragic deaths of five cows and injuries to several others after flames spread rapidly from a nearby shop. The blaze broke out around 1:45 am on Monday at a plywood and used furniture shop located in the Shampura area, quickly escalating to an adjacent cattle shed on land owned by the Muneshwara Temple Trust.
Rescue Efforts and Animal Casualties
Approximately 20 cows were housed in the shed at the time of the incident. As the fire intensified, several animals became trapped, unable to escape the rapidly spreading flames. By the time emergency services arrived on the scene, five cows had been charred to death. A few others suffered minor burns and are currently undergoing treatment for their injuries.
Residents in the vicinity were awakened by the thick smoke and intense flames. They rushed out of their homes, immediately alerting fire and emergency services while attempting to rescue the trapped animals. Their quick actions helped mitigate further casualties, but the fire had already caused significant damage.
Property Damage and Firefighting Response
In addition to the animal casualties, the fire destroyed four vehicles parked nearby. The destroyed vehicles included a mini-goods vehicle and three scrapped two-wheelers, all of which lacked proper documentation. Fire personnel responded swiftly to the emergency, deploying two water tankers, a bowser, and a foam tanker to combat the blaze. Through their concerted efforts, the fire was brought under control and finally doused by early morning.
Investigation Underway
Police have registered a case in connection with the incident, and the exact cause of the fire remains unclear at this time. Authorities are actively probing whether the blaze was accidental or deliberate, with investigations ongoing to determine the origin and circumstances surrounding the fire.
