Tragic Incident in Bengaluru as Teenager Dies While Filming Social Media Content
A routine evening outing for creating social media content turned into a devastating tragedy in west Bengaluru on Friday. A 15-year-old student lost his life after falling from a dilapidated and abandoned building while attempting to shoot reels with his friends.
Details of the Fatal Accident
The victim, identified as Nishanth H, was a Class 10 student who had recently completed his CBSE examinations. According to police reports, Nishanth left his home in Ullala around 4:30 PM to meet two friends. The trio decided to film social media reels and chose an abandoned resort building in D Group Layout as their location.
The building in question has been vacant for approximately two decades due to ongoing legal disputes. A security guard is typically stationed at the premises from 8 AM to 5:30 PM daily. Investigators believe the teenagers entered the property after the guard had departed for the day by squeezing through a narrow passage beside the compound wall.
The Fatal Fall from Height
Once inside the abandoned complex, Nishanth climbed onto the wall of a tennis court structure and proceeded to reach the roof. The roof was fitted with polycarbonate sheets designed for lighting purposes. As he stepped onto one of these sheets, his friends standing below immediately warned him about the potential danger and urged him to return to safety.
Unfortunately, Nishanth had already taken several steps across the fragile material when he attempted to turn back. At that moment, the polycarbonate sheet suddenly gave way beneath his weight. He plummeted from a height estimated between 35 to 40 feet, sustaining severe head injuries in the process.
His companions rushed him to a nearby hospital, but medical professionals declared him brought dead upon arrival. Police officials confirmed that the attempt to create engaging social media content directly led to this fatal accident.
Family Background and Aftermath
Nishanth was the elder son of civil contractor Harsha. In their profound grief, his parents made the compassionate decision to donate his eyes, potentially giving sight to others despite their personal tragedy. The Annapoorneshwarinagar police station has registered a case of unnatural death in connection with the incident.
This heartbreaking event serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers associated with urban exploration, particularly when combined with the pressure to create dramatic social media content. The abandoned building's long-standing vacancy and structural deterioration created hazardous conditions that proved fatal for the adventurous teenager.
Local authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy while the community mourns the loss of a young life cut short during what should have been a celebratory period following academic examinations.
