Mob Vandalizes Ama Bus in Bhubaneswar Following Alleged Hit-and-Run
In a distressing incident on Monday evening, a mob once again vandalized an Ama Bus in Bhubaneswar after the vehicle allegedly struck a cyclist, leaving the man critically injured near the Palashpalli overbridge. According to eyewitness accounts, the bus, which was not in service at the time, was en route to the Pokhariput depot when the collision occurred.
The injured cyclist, who has not yet been identified by police, was promptly shifted to Capital Hospital for urgent medical treatment. This event is not an isolated case, as the Ama Bus, operated by the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), has been involved in similar incidents in the past, leading to acts of vandalism by agitated crowds.
As of now, CRUT has not issued any official statement regarding this latest incident, leaving many questions unanswered about the circumstances and potential measures to prevent future occurrences. The lack of response from the transport authority has sparked concerns among local residents and commuters about safety protocols and accountability.
This report highlights ongoing issues with public transport safety in the region, underscoring the need for improved oversight and community engagement to address such violent outbursts and ensure the well-being of all road users.
