Nitish Kumar Meets PM Modi, Amit Shah in Delhi After Historic 10th Oath
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar meets PM Modi, Amit Shah in Delhi

In a significant political engagement, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited the national capital on Monday for crucial discussions with top central leadership. This marked his first trip to Delhi after assuming office for a historic tenth term last month.

A High-Level Courtesy Call

The Chief Minister, leading a delegation, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He was accompanied by his deputy, Samrat Choudhary of the BJP, and Union Minister Lalan Singh from the Janata Dal (United). The meeting with the Prime Minister was described by the delegation as a "courtesy call" following the formation of the new government in Bihar.

Focus on a 'Developed Bihar'

According to details shared after the meeting, Prime Minister Modi provided guidance on achieving developmental goals for the state. The focus was on steering Bihar towards becoming a "developed" region. Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary emphasized that the "double-engine government"—a reference to the same party alliance ruling at both the state and centre—is now working at "double speed" to deliver on its promises.

Following the discussions, Home Minister Amit Shah expressed confidence in the Bihar administration. He stated that the NDA government in Bihar, under the joint leadership of PM Modi and CM Kumar, is fully committed to elevating people's welfare and good governance to unprecedented levels.

The Backdrop of a Decisive Victory

This meeting comes on the heels of a massive electoral victory for the National Democratic Alliance in Bihar. Last month, Nitish Kumar was sworn in as Chief Minister after the NDA secured a commanding majority in the 243-member state assembly, winning 202 seats. This decisive mandate set the stage for renewed collaboration between the state and central governments.

The discussions in New Delhi are seen as a step towards aligning state-level initiatives with national priorities, ensuring smoother implementation of development projects and welfare schemes in Bihar.
