The state government on Wednesday announced that it has reached a mutual consensus on several issues following discussions with representatives of panchayat secretaries, according to Panchayati Raj department director Naveen Kumar Singh.
Strike over demands
Singh stated, “The secretaries are currently on strike over a five-point charter of demands. Discussions on transfers and postings will continue after consultations with the Panchayat Secretaries’ Association.” He emphasized that the secretaries play a vital role in rural administration and the panchayat governance system.
The department is maintaining continuous dialogue to address their concerns and grievances. Singh expressed hope that the association will adopt a cooperative approach while keeping public interest and the smooth functioning of panchayat administration in mind.
Future meetings
Officials indicated that further meetings are expected to resolve pending issues and potentially end the strike, noting that progress has been made so far. The government remains committed to finding a resolution that benefits all parties involved.
