Bihar's Industrial Leap: Deputy CM Inaugurates Major Coca-Cola & Cement Plants
In a significant boost to Bihar's industrial landscape, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary inaugurated two major industrial projects in Buxar district on Saturday. The projects include one of South Asia's largest Coca-Cola bottling plants and a JK Cement grinding unit, representing a combined investment of Rs 1700 crore.
Transformative Investments for Bihar's Future
Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary emphasized that these projects mark a crucial step toward industrial development in Bihar, with the potential to create approximately one crore jobs over the next five years. The Nawanagar Coca-Cola bottling plant, established by SLMG Beverages Pvt Ltd, spans 65 acres and was constructed at a cost of Rs 1200 crore. This facility boasts a production capacity of 3.24 lakh cases per day and over 5,000 bottles per minute, making it one of the most technologically advanced bottling plants in South Asia.
Simultaneously, the JK Cement grinding unit at Brahmpur covers 100 acres with a production capacity of 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). This plant is expected to ensure timely supply of high-quality cement to Bihar and surrounding regions, supporting infrastructure development across eastern India.
Government Commitment to Industrial Growth
Industries Minister Dilip Jaiswal, who attended the inauguration, highlighted Bihar's investor-friendly environment created through progressive industrial policies. He stated that the state has effectively rolled out a red carpet for industrialists, positioning Bihar to become the industrial hub of eastern India in the coming years. To further bolster this vision, the state government has established the Bihar Industrial Security Force (BISF), modeled after the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), to provide comprehensive security for factories and industrial units.
Deputy CM Chaudhary credited the NDA government, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, for attracting substantial investments under the new industrial policy. He noted that these projects reflect the administration's commitment to economic transformation and job creation.
Technological Excellence and Sustainability
The Coca-Cola bottling plant at Nawanagar is engineered with advanced PET bottle technology that extends product shelf life up to eight months. The facility supports multiple beverage categories, including carbonated soft drinks, juices, packaged drinking water, and aseptic beverages. Spread across land provided by the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA), the plant incorporates sustainable practices such as wastewater treatment facilities, PET recycling initiatives, and approximately 40% green space development on campus.
Siddharth Ladhani, Director of SLMG Beverages, described the facility as a transformative investment that combines world-class technology with sustainable operations to generate employment and economic opportunities while strengthening the partnership with the Coca-Cola Company.
Corporate Confidence in Bihar's Potential
JK Cement Vice Chairman Nidhipati Singhania expressed confidence in Bihar's bright future, stating that the company is proud to contribute to the state's growth narrative. "We are not only manufacturing cement here, but are also laying the foundation of a new Bihar and India," Singhania remarked, underscoring the strategic importance of these investments for regional development.
These inaugurations signal a new era of industrial momentum in Bihar, with both projects expected to drive economic growth, enhance local employment, and establish the state as a key player in India's eastern industrial corridor.
