Major Administrative Reshuffle Sees Six Police Officers Transferred in Bihar
In a significant administrative development, the state government of Bihar executed a major reshuffle within the police department on Wednesday, resulting in the transfer of six officers. This move includes four Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, indicating a strategic realignment of key law enforcement roles across various units and districts.
Key IPS Officer Transfers in Focus
Ajay Kumar Pandey, a 2012-batch IPS officer, has been reassigned from his position as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Vigilance Investigation Bureau. He now takes on the role of DIG at the Prohibition and Anti-Narcotics Task Force, maintaining the same rank. This transfer highlights the state's intensified focus on combating narcotics and prohibition violations.
Another notable change involves Rajesh Kumar, a 2016-batch IPS officer, who has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Naugachia. Previously, he served as the SP of the Prohibition and State Narcotics Control Bureau, underscoring a shift in his responsibilities from state-level narcotics control to district policing.
District-Level Police Leadership Adjustments
Prerma Kumar, a 2018-batch IPS officer, has been moved from the SP position in Naugachia to become the SP of Lakhisarai. Concurrently, Awadhesh Dixit, a 2019-batch IPS officer who was the SP of Lakhisarai, has been transferred to the state headquarters. He now assumes the role of SP (Personnel-1), indicating a move towards administrative and personnel management functions.
Bihar Police Service Officers Also Reassigned
In addition to the IPS officers, two officers from the Bihar Police Service were part of this transfer order. Ramkrishna has been transferred to Barh as the Sub-Divisional Police Officer-1 (SDPO-1). He was previously serving in the cyber crime wing in Katihar, marking a transition from specialized cybercrime duties to broader sub-divisional policing responsibilities.
Anand Kumar Singh, who held the position of SDPO-1 in Barh, has been given a new charge as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) for the security of the Patna High Court. This reassignment emphasizes the importance of judicial security in the state capital.
Implications of the Transfer Orders
This widespread reshuffle reflects ongoing efforts by the Bihar government to optimize police administration and enhance law enforcement efficiency. The transfers span various critical areas, including vigilance, narcotics control, district policing, and high-security roles, potentially aiming to address specific operational needs and improve public safety across the state.
The movements of officers like Ajay Kumar Pandey to the Anti-Narcotics Task Force and Anand Kumar Singh to Patna High Court security suggest targeted deployments to bolster key sectors. As these officers settle into their new roles, the impact on policing strategies and crime prevention in Bihar will be closely monitored by stakeholders and the public alike.
