Bihar Transfers IAS Officer C K Anil Amid Revenue Strike

The Bihar state government on Tuesday transferred 1991-batch IAS officer C K Anil, who served as principal secretary of the revenue and land reforms department. Anil played a key role in major decisions during the tenure of former deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, who was the department's minister in the previous Nitish Kumar government.

IAS officer and department secretary Jai Singh has been given charge in place of Anil. Anil has been posted as a consultant with the Bihar State Planning Board. The general administration department issued a notification regarding the transfer on Tuesday.

The move is believed to be linked to the ongoing prolonged strike by circle officers and revenue officials, the resulting deadlock in the department, and increasing administrative pressure. During Vijay Sinha's tenure as minister, more than 200 revenue employees, including 47 circle officers, were suspended. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who also holds the portfolio of the revenue and land reforms department, revoked their suspension after assuming office.

The employees were subsequently directed to resume duty, but they did not comply, leading to continued disruption in departmental functioning.
