BJD Forms Panel for Electoral Roll Revision in Odisha

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday established a state-level monitoring team to oversee preparations linked to the Election Commission of India's decision to initiate the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Odisha from May 30. According to an office order issued by party president Naveen Patnaik, the team will monitor and supervise the appointment of booth level agents (BLAs) in all assembly constituencies, along with their training, capacity building, and other related work.

Composition of the Monitoring Team

The six-member panel comprises senior BJD leaders: Pramila Mallik, Niranjan Pujari, Pratap Jena, Sasmit Patra, Bhrugu Baxipatra, and Bijay Nayak. The order stated that the newly-formed team will immediately begin reviewing the status of BLA appointments and training across all constituencies. It will submit weekly reports to the BJD president to ensure timely progress and adherence to election guidelines.

Scope of Work

The monitoring team is tasked with ensuring that booth level agents are appointed in a timely manner across all assembly segments. They will also oversee the training programs to equip BLAs with necessary skills for electoral roll management. The team will coordinate with district-level party units to address any challenges and streamline the revision process.
