Biju Janata Dal's state general secretary Rudranarayan Samantaray, along with his supporters, formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday. Samantaray stated that he is embarking on a new journey by aligning with the BJP. "In 2019, I joined the BJD to serve people better, but found it challenging to serve the public effectively. I got inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and joined the BJP," he said.
Political Shift in Odisha
The defection of a senior BJD leader to the BJP marks a significant shift in Odisha's political landscape. Samantaray's move is expected to influence other party members and strengthen the BJP's presence in the state. He expressed confidence that the BJP's policies and leadership would enable him to serve the people more efficiently.
Reasons for Joining BJP
Samantaray cited the developmental work and governance style of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Majhi as key factors in his decision. He believes that the BJP's vision aligns with his goal of public service. The BJD leader also highlighted the challenges he faced within his former party in delivering effective governance to the masses.
