BJP's Scathing Attack on Jharkhand Government
The Bharatiya Janata Party's Jharkhand unit launched a fierce political offensive on Saturday, releasing a comprehensive charge sheet against the incumbent Hemant Soren-led government. At a press conference held at the party office in Ranchi, state BJP president and leader of opposition Babulal Marandi accused the ruling coalition of systematically duping the people of Jharkhand during its six-year tenure.
Seven Guarantees Remain Unfulfilled
Marandi specifically targeted the INDIA bloc government for what he called complete failure in delivering on its seven key election promises. "The INDIA bloc has not taken a single step forward on the seven guarantees given during the 2024 assembly elections," Marandi stated emphatically. He characterized the current administration as "a government of thugs" that has betrayed virtually every section of society.
The BJP leader detailed each broken promise, starting with the first guarantee of implementing the 1932 khatiyan-based domicile policy, which he said remains uncertain. The second guarantee, Maiyan Samman aimed at women's upliftment, has turned into what he described as a sham operation with numerous beneficiaries allegedly being removed from lists without explanation.
Multiple Fronts of Failure
According to the BJP's assessment, the government has failed on every front including food security, employment generation, health security, education, and the promised increase of paddy MSP to Rs 3200. Marandi highlighted the controversial recruitment drives that have plagued the state, particularly referencing the tragic deaths of close to two dozen job aspirants during last year's excise constable recruitment drive.
"Why is the government avoiding CBI investigation of examination corruption?" Marandi questioned, pointing to what he described as deteriorating law and order situation where women and girls are becoming increasingly vulnerable across districts.
In one of his most serious allegations, Marandi claimed that "police have turned into public looters on the directions of CMO" and accused the government of protecting Bangladeshi Rohingya infiltrators, thereby changing the state's demography.
The charge sheet release comes exactly one day after the first anniversary of the Hemant 2.0 government, marking a significant escalation in the opposition's criticism of the ruling alliance's performance.
