BJP Cadres Stage Road Blockade in Coimbatore Over Kinathukadavu Seat Dispute

In a significant development during the election season, BJP cadres in Coimbatore took to the streets, blocking the Eachanari-Chettipala yam road to express their discontent over the AIADMK's decision not to allocate the Kinathukadavu constituency to the BJP. This protest unfolded even as BJP's national organization secretary, B L Santhosh, was conducting a crucial meeting with senior party leaders in Chennai to solidify election strategies.

Protesters Demand Kinathukadavu Seat Citing Past Performance

The protesting cadres voiced their expectations that Kinathukadavu should have been allotted to the BJP, highlighting the party's strong performance in the segment during previous elections. Their agitation was eventually quelled by BJP leader K Vasantharajan, who had been eyeing the seat himself. Vasantharajan successfully pacified the cadres, bringing the road blockade to a peaceful conclusion.

BJP's Seat Allocation in Coimbatore and Tirupur Districts

In Coimbatore district, the AIADMK has allocated only one segment to the BJP: Coimbatore North. This constituency is where BJP women's wing national president Vanathi Srinivasan is being touted as the likely candidate. Meanwhile, in the neighboring Tirupur district, the Avinashi segment is expected to see Union Minister L Murugan as the BJP's candidate, indicating the party's strategic placements across regions.
