Former BJP Leader Alleges Congress Involvement in Koppal 'Love Jihad' Case
BJP Ex-Functionary Accuses Congress in Koppal 'Love Jihad' Row

Political Controversy Erupts Over 'Love Jihad' Allegations in Koppal

A significant political controversy has ignited in Koppal, Karnataka, following serious allegations made by former BJP functionary Basavaraj Kyavater. He has accused the Congress party and the state government of direct involvement in a reported 'love jihad' case from Alavandi village in the taluk, sparking heated debates and denials.

Allegations of Organized Targeting and Rising Incidents

In a detailed press statement, Kyavater asserted that incidents targeting Hindu girls under the guise of love are increasing alarmingly across Karnataka. He claimed these acts are being executed in an organized manner, exploiting the trust of young women and severely impacting their lives. Highlighting recent events, he noted that within the past week alone, three such cases were reported in Hubballi and one in Koppal, suggesting a troubling pattern.

Kyavater further alleged that such cases tend to surge whenever the Congress party assumes power, raising suspicions of indirect support from its leaders. This accusation has added fuel to the ongoing political tensions in the region.

Substantial Evidence and Calls for Action

Focusing on the Koppal case, Kyavater revealed that two mobile phones seized from the accused, identified as Mustafa Khadri of Kampli in Alavandi Hobli, contained a vast amount of objectionable material. According to his claims, one phone held approximately 3,000 photos and 6,000 videos, while the other contained about 4,000 photos and 3,700 videos. He described this as alarming, stating that these included obscene visuals involving 16 women from the Hindu community.

Despite what he termed as substantial evidence, Kyavater questioned why the accused has not been arrested yet. He speculated that pressure from local Congress legislators and MPs might be causing delays and demanded a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the matter. Emphatically, he called on authorities to take immediate and stringent measures against those involved and to ensure justice for the victims.

Denials and Counterclaims from Congress MP

In response, Koppal MP K Rajashekar Hitnal, on Tuesday, firmly denied the allegations made by Basavaraj Kyavater, dismissing them as baseless and politically motivated. Hitnal remarked that BJP leaders are raising 'love jihad' claims because they lack other substantive issues to focus on, aiming to stir controversy.

He clarified that the police are already investigating the matter and urged that conclusions should only be drawn after the probe is completed. Questioning the narrative, Hitnal asked whether every case involving individuals from Hindu and Muslim backgrounds should be labeled as 'love jihad,' noting that many such cases are routinely handled in police stations without such sensationalism.

In a sarcastic tone, he suggested that Kyavater could instead visit police stations and act as a mediator, implying that the allegations are exaggerated and unnecessary. This rebuttal highlights the deep political divisions and the contentious nature of the issue in Koppal.
