A local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Pappu Sana, was allegedly assaulted by a group of attackers in Narendrapur, located in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district near Kolkata, police said on Thursday.
Attack Details
The incident took place around 2 am, when Sana was reportedly attacked with bamboo sticks by multiple assailants. He sustained severe injuries and has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a state-run hospital in Kolkata.
Investigation Underway
Preliminary inputs suggest that some of the attackers arrived in a car. The exact motive behind the attack is not yet clear. Police have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to identify those involved.
