BJP Mandal President Faces FIR for Alleged Assault on Woman and Mother in Satna

In a disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through Satna district, a BJP mandal president has been formally booked by the police for allegedly assaulting a young woman and her mother following a late-night altercation. The episode, which unfolded on Tuesday night, resulted in injuries to both women and has since gained widespread attention after CCTV footage of the assault went viral on social media platforms.

Details of the Alleged Assault

According to the official complaint filed with the authorities, the incident occurred at the warehouse of BJP leader Pulkit Tandon's trading shop. The woman, who operates a local beauty parlour, reported that she was summoned to the location under deceptive circumstances. She stated that she received a late-night phone call from RK Namdev, identified as a servant of Tandon, who connected her to the BJP leader. Tandon allegedly informed her that a customer had arrived for beauty services and urgently requested her presence at the warehouse.

Initially hesitant, the woman eventually agreed and proceeded to the site. Upon arrival, Namdev reportedly directed her to enter the warehouse, claiming the customer was inside. However, once inside, she discovered Tandon consuming alcohol. When she attempted to exit the premises, Tandon is accused of grabbing her hand, pushing her to the ground, and physically assaulting her with slaps while hurling verbal abuse. Namdev also arrived at the scene during the altercation.

Family Intervention and Aftermath

The woman's mother and brother, who had followed her to the location, intervened to protect her. In an attempt to document the incident, the brother tried to record the assault on his mobile phone, but the accused allegedly smashed the device. Both the woman and her mother sustained injuries during the assault and were subsequently taken to a hospital for medical treatment. The complainant further alleged that there were attempts to pressure the family into refraining from reporting the incident to the police.

Police Action and Political Response

On Wednesday, CCTV footage capturing the assault and the ensuing scuffle surfaced online, rapidly circulating across social media and amplifying public outrage. Police officials confirmed their awareness of the footage and stated that it has been incorporated into the ongoing investigation. Based on the woman's detailed complaint, the Nagod police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Pulkit Tandon under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 296(A), 115(2), 351(3), 3(5), and 324(4).

As of the latest updates, the accused has not been arrested, and the investigation is actively progressing. In response to the allegations, the BJP has issued a formal notice to Tandon, seeking an explanation regarding the matter. This development underscores the seriousness with which the party is treating the accusations, amid growing calls for accountability and justice.

The case highlights critical issues related to women's safety and the accountability of public figures, resonating deeply within the community and beyond. Authorities have assured that all aspects of the incident are being thoroughly examined to ensure a fair and just resolution.
