A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator and his two security guards sustained injuries after a serious road accident on a national highway in Kota on Wednesday afternoon. The incident involved a head-on collision between the MLA's SUV and a truck transporting onions.
Details of the Kota Highway Accident
The accident occurred around 1 pm on Wednesday at the Shambhupura Turn on National Highway-27. The area falls under the jurisdiction of the Nanta police station in Kota city. Kaluram Meghwal, the BJP MLA representing the Dug assembly constituency in Jhalawar district, was travelling to Jaipur when the crash happened.
According to police reports, a truck bearing a Madhya Pradesh registration number and coming from the direction of Chittorgarh rammed directly into the MLA's Hyundai Creta at the turn. The impact of the collision was severe, leading to injuries for the occupants of the car.
Injuries and Immediate Response
MLA Kaluram Meghwal and his two personal security officers, identified as Manish and Suresh, were hurt in the accident. Promptly after receiving information, police teams rushed to the spot. The injured were quickly shifted to the New Medical College Hospital (NMCH) in Kota for urgent medical attention.
Following initial treatment, all three individuals were kept under precautionary medical observation for monitoring. Hospital sources confirmed that their condition was stable and they were out of danger. The driver of the MLA's car, however, escaped unhurt from the crash.
Police Investigation and Search for Driver
Senior police officials, including Kota City Superintendent of Police Tejashveeni Gautam and Deputy Superintendent of Police Manish Sharma, visited the hospital. They met with the MLA and the medical staff to review the treatment being provided.
Nanta police station SHO Chetan Sharma provided crucial details about the aftermath. He stated that the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, abandoning the loaded vehicle. The police have since seized the truck as part of their investigation.
A search operation has been launched to trace and arrest the absconding truck driver. Authorities have stated that a further investigation is ongoing to ascertain the exact cause of the accident and to fix responsibility for the tragic incident on the busy national highway.
