BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan Denies Discord with Annamalai, Urges Party Unity
In a significant statement from Coimbatore, BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan on Friday firmly dismissed any suggestions of animosity or discord between her and former party state president K Annamalai. She emphasized her strong wish for Annamalai to contest and win in the upcoming April 23 assembly election, highlighting a spirit of cooperation within the party ranks.
Seat-Sharing Talks Concluded Smoothly
Addressing reporters at the BJP office in Coimbatore, Vanathi revealed that seat-sharing discussions within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have concluded smoothly. "BJP is fully prepared to contest the elections in alliance with the AIADMK and other partners," she stated, underscoring the party's readiness for the electoral battle. She acknowledged reports of dissatisfaction among cadres in some constituencies but stressed that compromises are an inevitable part of any alliance. Party workers should respect the leadership's decision, which is final and binding, she advised, calling for unity and discipline.
Global Oil Crisis and Government Response
Shifting focus to international affairs, Vanathi addressed the conflict between Iran and the United States, noting its disruptive impact on oil tanker movements through the Strait of Hormuz. This has caused crude oil prices to surge above $100 per barrel, creating economic challenges. Despite this serious situation, she praised the Union government for taking proactive measures to alleviate public burden. The government has reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 10 per litre, a move aimed at easing financial pressure on citizens amidst global volatility.
Vanathi's comments come at a critical time as political preparations intensify, with her remarks serving to quell internal rumors and reinforce party solidarity ahead of the elections.
