In Varanasi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) public representatives and functionaries held a sit-in protest and a public meeting at the district headquarters on Wednesday. The demonstration was against the derogatory remarks made by Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Rai targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Key Attendees at the Protest
The protest witnessed the participation of several BJP leaders from Uttar Pradesh, including ministers Ravindra Jaiswal, Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu, and Hansraj Vishwakarma. Other prominent attendees were MLAs Neelkanth Tiwari, Saurabh Srivastava, and Awadhesh Singh, along with former MP Rajesh Mishra and former MLA Surendra Singh Aundhe.
Allegations Against Congress
Addressing the gathering, BJP leaders accused Ajay Rai of consistently making indecent and undignified remarks against PM Modi. They stated that the Congress party has abandoned positive politics and is now resorting to personal allegations and insulting language. The BJP leaders asserted their commitment to exposing Congress leaders and their negative political tactics.
They further claimed that Rahul Gandhi and Ajay Rai not only lack political knowledge but also fail to observe basic etiquettes due to arrogance. The protesters emphasized that this outrage is not limited to the BJP but reflects the sentiment of the entire public of Kashi against the Congress.
Demand for Apology
The party organized the meeting to condemn Ajay Rai and make him feel ashamed of his remarks. The protesters warned that the people of Kashi would teach the Congress a bitter lesson. Additionally, a memorandum was submitted to ADM City Rajesh Kumar, demanding action against the Congress leader.

The protest also saw the presence of MLC Dharmendra Singh, Mayor Ashok Tiwari, District Panchayat President Poonam Maurya, veterans Veena Pandey, Kashi regional unit president Dilip Singh Patel, district chief Ramsakal Patel, and city president Pradeep Agrahari.
