BJP Slams Congress Over MGNREGA Scams, Farmer Crisis in Punjab

Punjab BJP Leader Lambasts Congress Over MGNREGA Scams and Agricultural Crisis

In a scathing critique, Punjab BJP state vice-president Kewal Singh Dhillon launched a sharp attack on the Congress party for its conspicuous silence on critical issues concerning farmers and workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). The criticism came in response to the recent Congress rally held in Barnala, where Dhillon alleged that key problems were deliberately ignored.

Allegations of Massive MGNREGA Irregularities in Punjab

Addressing the media in Chandigarh, Dhillon stated that large-scale irregularities have taken place under the MGNREGA scheme in Punjab, with allegations of scams involving thousands of crores of rupees. He emphasized that during the Barnala rally, Congress failed to raise the issue of pending wages for workers or present any clear strategy to address the ongoing agrarian crisis.

"Congress neither raised the issue of pending wages of workers nor presented any clear strategy regarding farmers' problems," Dhillon asserted, highlighting what he called a deliberate omission.

Congress Labeled as AAP's 'B-Team' in Punjab

Dhillon alleged that Rahul Gandhi's failure to mention the alleged MGNREGA scams and the agrarian crisis clearly indicates that Congress is functioning as the 'B-Team' of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the state. He claimed that both parties have remained silent on these matters, suggesting a political arrangement where they work to provide mutual advantage.

"Lakhs of workers in Punjab did not receive the guaranteed 100 days of employment under MGNREGA, adversely affecting the rural economy," Dhillon added, pointing to the severe impact on the workforce.

BJP's Reforms and Vision for Economic Growth

On this occasion, Dhillon referred to the Central government's 'Viksit Bharat' vision and highlighted that the BJP government has reformed MGNREGA by increasing the employment guarantee for workers from 100 days to 125 days. He contrasted this with the opposition's approach, stating that the BJP's objective is to economically empower workers, farmers, and youth across Punjab and the nation.

Speaking about the national economy, Dhillon praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that India has become the world's fourth-largest economy. The government has set an ambitious target to make the country a leading global economy by 2047.

Future Economic Projections and Employment Opportunities

Dhillon elaborated on the government's vision, stating that India's economy is projected to reach between 21 to 30 trillion dollars in the coming years. He claimed that foreign trade agreements and investments are strengthening industrial growth, creating new employment opportunities for youth, and increasing farmers' income.

"The BJP's objective is to economically empower workers, farmers, and youth in Punjab and across the country, while opposition parties remain limited to political allegations and rhetoric," Dhillon concluded, underscoring the party's commitment to substantive development over political posturing.
