BJP Leader Arun Singh Intensifies Campaign in Dhanbad, Targets State Government
Arun Singh, the national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a Rajya Sabha member, actively campaigned for Dhanbad mayoral candidate Sanjeev Kumar on Thursday. During his visit, he launched a sharp critique against the Jharkhand government, accusing it of failing to improve law and order across the state.
Election Manifesto Release and Political Support
Flanked by prominent local leaders, including Dhanbad MP Dulu Mahto and MLA Raj Sinha, Singh participated in the release of Sanjeev Kumar's election manifesto. This event underscored the BJP's official backing of Kumar for the mayoral position in the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation, highlighting the party's strategic focus on the upcoming civic polls.
Allegations of Governance Collapse and Public Fear
Singh asserted that governance has collapsed in Jharkhand, forcing citizens to live in constant fear. He elaborated on this by pointing to specific issues: "Incidents of crime against women have increased, and insecurity among families has grown. Additionally, there are reports of child-lifting rumours, threats to traders, and kidnapping cases, which have only added to the anxiety among the public," Singh stated.
To bolster his claims, Singh cited recent developments, such as firing incidents near government offices in Ranchi, as evidence of deteriorating security conditions in the state.
Call for Electoral Response and Development Agenda
Emphasizing that the people of Jharkhand are distressed with the present government, Singh predicted a strong electoral response through the ballot in the civic polls. He positioned development as the BJP's core agenda, stating that the party is seeking votes based on promises of improved governance and infrastructure.
Singh drew parallels to Gujarat, suggesting that the kind of development witnessed there could be replicated in Jharkhand if BJP-supported candidates secure victory in the urban local body elections.
Coordinated Campaign Efforts and Community Outreach
Meanwhile, BJP National Minister Rituraj Sinha was actively camping in the district to coordinate campaign efforts. He held a meeting with members of the Kayastha community, appealing for their support in favor of Sanjeev Kumar.
Arun Singh was also seen engaging directly with residents, distributing pamphlets as part of the party's grassroots outreach drive. This hands-on approach underscores the BJP's commitment to connecting with voters at the local level in Dhanbad.
