Chandigarh: Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar on Friday took a swipe at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the state, asserting that the Enforcement Directorate's action in Mohali had exposed internal divisions within the party. In a written statement, Jakhar said, 'The infighting is entirely internal, yet whenever someone leaves the party, the BJP is blamed for it.'
ED Raids and CM's Reaction
Earlier in the day, Jakhar also posted on X, stating, 'The ED investigation is still ongoing, and only upon its completion will any final decision be made. However, the way in which, as soon as the news of the ED raids in Mohali surfaced yesterday, chief minister Bhagwant Mann hastily stated in Kahla that we have no connection to this, has certainly highlighted the mutual relations between the CM and his party's president, Aman Arora.' He added that a glimpse of the CM and party president's 'deep relations' was also visible during the May 1 cabinet meeting, and later the CM leveled accusations against the BJP regarding those who left the party.
Allegations of Humiliation
In his written statement, Jakhar further remarked, 'The CM's statement yesterday made it clear how deep the differences within the AAP have become. Perhaps, the CM does not want any leader in the party who could one day emerge as a challenge to him.' Referring to the May 1 cabinet meeting, he alleged, 'Both Aman Arora and Sanjeev Arora were specifically humiliated by the chief minister during the meeting.'
Demand for Accountability
Jakhar concluded by saying, 'Punjab is now demanding accountability for the alleged loot carried out over the last four years.'
